2018 Molson Slo-Pitch National Championships

TEAM WAIVER / ROSTERS
 
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE A COPY OF YOUR TEAM WAIVER / ROSTER. TEAMS CAN ACCESS THEIR ROSTERS ONLINE AT ANYTIME (using online login and password)  AT WWW.SLO-PITCH.COM.  THIS IS THE TEAM ROSTER THAT THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE WILL ACCESS TO VERIFY ANY ROSTER ISSUES.

TEAMS CAN HAVE A MAXIMUM OF 18 PLAYERS AND 2 COACHES FOR THIS EVENT.
 
You may not add any players at tournament check in or throughout the tournament weekend.
 
Team Waiver/Roster may be checked at registration by the team manager only. NO TEAM MAY ADD PLAYERS FOR ANY REASON, EVEN IF THAT LEAVES THE TEAM UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE. 
 
PLAYERS ARE ADVISED TO CARRY PHOTO IDENTIFICATION TO EACH GAME. ROSTER CHECKS WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGHOUT THE EVENT.
 
 
TEAM CHECK IN
1 MEMBER (Preferably the Coach or Team Manager)  MUST check the team in at tournament headquarters.  Team check in will take place on Thursday August 2nd starting at 7pm.  Opening Ceremonies will take place at 8pm, followed by a Coaches meeting at 8:15pm.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
The official tournament draw is posted at tournament headquarters. Please note:  The tournament schedule could change at any time.  All teams are reminded to check the scoreboards after each game to ensure that no changes to the schedule have been made.  All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 5 scheduled games during the tournament. A round robin format will be used with all teams moving into a modified double knock out elimination tournament format.
 
It is the responsibility of each team to know their schedule throughout the event. (both Round Robin and Elimination Games).
 
In the event that the tournament has to be stopped for any reason, all teams are to remain at the diamonds.  The umpires will contact tournament headquarters for direction.  The tournament convener has the right to revise the tournament schedule at any time, including reducing the number of guaranteed scheduled games.
 
Slo-Pitch Central – Tournament Headquarters
 
Patrick Cummings Sports Park is the home of slo-pitch in Niagara Falls.
 
Patrick Cummings Sports Park is located at behind the Chippawa Willoughby Memorial Arena, 9000 Sodom Rd, Niagara Falls  L2G 6S6.
 
This is a 6 fenced diamond complex, and features a children’s playground and splash pad area, in addition to a licenced gazebo where refreshments will be sold, along with the arena where the main tournament headquarters is located. All tournament information and tournament scores will be available at the arena. Absolutely no outside alcoholic beverages are permitted within the arena or the softball complex. City bylaws do not permit the consumption of alcohol or smoking at any satellite diamonds. Offenders will be eliminated from the tournament. Satellite diamonds will be used to accommodate the number of teams in the tournament. Tournament headquarters features all of the tournament scores, tournament check in, umpire headquarters, beer and food sales along with Kahunaverse Sports who will be onsite each weekend with terrific deals on all Slo-Pitch National Sponsor’s Sporting equipment and souvenirs.
 

PARTICIPANT CONDUCT
All tournament participants shall conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. Slo-Pitch National reserves the right to remove any team or tournament participant from the event for failure to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. All player ejections during games, shall be reviewed to determine if the player will be eliminated from the remainder of the event. Players expelled from a game shall face the penalties outlined in the 2018 Slo-Pitch National rulebook. Players or teams may be removed from the event if they are violating any municipal or provincial laws. PLEASE REFER TO OUR MEMBERS CODE OF CONDUCT.
 
UNIFORMS
Matching tops with a 4inch number are mandatory for the National Championships. 
 
BASES
Bases will be supplied by Slo-Pitch National. The home team will be decided by a coin toss prior to the game. 
 
UMPIRES
The umpire information room is located off of the front lobby at the Tournament Welcome Centre. The umpire in chiefs will be on hand at this location throughout the event. All rule questions, should be directed to the Umpire In Chiefs. A two person umpire system will be used for all games in all divisions. In the event of an extenuating circumstance one umpire may be used. 
 
RULES
All teams should be familiar with the SPN rulebook - these are the official tournament rules.  Make sure that your team has reviewed these rules and that you have a copy of the 2018 Rulebook at the Championships.  Please note that there is no time limit for National Championship Games – all games will be 7 innings - mercy rule is still in effect.
 
A scoring line at home plate/strike mat and a commitment line shall be used in all divisions. A HOME PLATE/STRIKE MAT WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE BALLS AND STRIKES IN ALL DIVISIONS
 
OFFICIAL BAT RULE - CONFISCATED BATS 
 
The game umpire will check bats before each game to ensure that they meet with the bat specifications outlined in the rulebook. Any bats that do not meet specifications will be tagged and taken back to the official’s room at tournament headquarters. Teams may reclaim bats after they have been eliminated from the tournament. 
 
Confiscated bats collected at the tournament are held at the SPN office until January 1.  After January 1, all unclaimed bats are donated to various charitable organizations.

TOURNAMENT WEATHER POLICY 

The Weather policy is posted at tournament headquarters, teams are advised to stay at the diamond and receive direction from the umpires onsite in the event of a weather situation. The muster point for the event is the Tournament Welcome Centre – any tournament delays or game rescheduling will be handled at this location and teams must report to this venue for onsite updates and information.
 
 
ALLOW TIME TO GET TO GAMES
Niagara Falls is a busy place and construction continues along various points of the QEW, so please be prepared and allow extra time to get to your games. Maps are available at tournament headquarters and at www.slo-pitch.com
 
 
SOUVENIRS & SPORTS EQUIPMENT
Souvenirs will be on sale at the tournament headquarters through Kahunaverse Sports. Cash, Debit and Credit will be the accepted method of payment. Any person caught shoplifting from this venue will be removed – along with the team they are playing on from the event. Shoplifting will be reported to the Niagara Police. Please note Kahunaverse will not be open on Monday August 6th.
 
 
MEDICAL ATTENTION
There will be first aid on site at the main 6 diamond headquarters, between diamond 3&5  Serious injuries need to be treated at local hospitals. 
In the event of an emergency, please call 911. Umpires have been provided with address to all parks being utilized.

ALCOHOL POLICY 

We ask all tournament participants to drink responsibly. All underage drinking is prohibited by law. Alcohol consumption at the event must take place in designated licensed areas only. No outside alcohol is permitted at the event.

ABSOLUTELY NO TAILGATING WILL BE PERMITTED AT THE TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS OR SATELLITE DIAMONDS DURING THE TOURNAMENT. TEAMS FOUND TAILGATING COULD FACE ELIMINATION FROM THE EVENT WITHOUT REFUND. TEAMS ELIMINATED FROM THE EVENT FOR TAILGATING COULD FACE SUSPENSION FROM FUTURE PARTICIPATION.

PETS
Pets are permitted at the event in the outdoor areas only.  All pets should be muzzled and on a leash and shall not be left unattended. Please clean up after your pets. Any pet that is left in an unattended vehicle will be reported to the police.

CHILDREN
Children should be supervised at all times. Please do not leave your children unattended in the tournament headquarters or at the neighbouring splashpad or playground. ANY LOST CHILD SHOULD BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO POLICE AND EVENT ORGANIZERS

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
Please be aware of your surroundings and environment at all times and make safe choices. Any suspicious activity should be immediately reported to Niagara police and tournament organizers.

LOST AND FOUND
All lost and found items should be handed in at the Tournament Scoreboards. All valuables will be recorded upon drop off and upon being claimed. All unclaimed lost and found items will be returned to the National Office located at 63 Galaxy Blvd Unit 4, Toronto, ON M9W 5R7 for possible pick up after the event.

SMOKING REGULATIONS
All Niagara Falls & vicinity parks, including tournament headquarters (Chippawa Arena) is a smoke-free environment, in compliance with the Province of Ontario's Smoke-Free Ontario Act. Smoking is not permitted in any part of the park. This includes the use of any vapour or electronic cigarettes. Those participants that do not comply will be subject to fines issued by the City of Niagara Falls bilaw officers.

DESIGNATED PARKING AREAS
Parking is available in the lot located at the Arena (front and side) in addition to the temporary grass lot located adjacent to the arena. Additional parking is available at the far end entrance to Patrick Cummings Park located closest to Diamonds 1&2 (Diamond 5&6 are located closest to Arena). Please note that there is no parking on Weinbrenner St (neighbours will call bilaw officers and cars will be towed). Please follow parking bilaws at all satellite diamonds. All vehichles park at their own risk, and Slo-Pitch National is not responsible for any damage or theft.
DO NOT BLOCK THE ENTRANCE TO THE FIELD PARKING – ANY VEHICLE THAT BLOCKS THIS ENTRANCE WILL BE TOWED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE.

1st place - Champions Jackets, Commemorative Medallions, Champions Pennant & MVP Bat
2nd place - Sports Bags
3/4th Place - Towels
 
All tournament prizing must be claimed at the event, immediately after the result has been decided. Slo-Pitch National will not be responsible for keeping unclaimed prizing from any event. Full teams are to report back to the Tournament Headquarters after the game has been completed to have a team photo taken and claim prizing. Prizing will not be awarded to players who are not in attendance to accept it. All teams must agree to have their photo taken.
