On May 27, Barry Black, Provincial Coordinator for the SPN Central Region, travelled to Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, to conduct an SPN umpire clinic.
9 new umpires attended the clinic, all members of the Rankin Inlet Slo Pitch league. The clinic emphasized what it takes to become a certified SPN umpire, and featured rule review, signals, positioning and game management strategies. The day ended with a visit to the Rankin Inlet diamond, which is has an artificial turf infield. Rankin Inlet is an Inuit hamlet on Kudlulik Peninsula in Nunavut, Canada, located on the northwestern Hudson Bay, between Chesterfield Inlet and Arviat, it is the regional centre for the Kivalliq Region.
