Slo-Pitch National would like to congratulate all of the winners from the 2018 Molson Slo-Pitch National Championships. Events were hosted in Orillia, Leduc, Niagara Falls and St John’s.
Over 225 teams competed at this year’s championships, and although many teams came up a little short in their quest to win the Champions title, all participants will have created incredible memories to last a lifetime. We would like to thank all of the players, coaches, managers and fans that came out and supported these events.
The National tournament would not be possible without the contributions from all of the Hosting Regions, their committees and volunteers. Special thanks to SPN Alberta, Trevor Hauser & Scott Carefoot. SPN Ontario, Trish Harrow, Wayne Barr & Bill Miller, SPN Newfoundland – Jack Constantine and Kathleen O’Brien. The team of volunteers you assembled can never be thanked enough.
To all of the umpires who were selected and officiated at the event, thank you. We can never express our thanks to the umpires enough. They are a vital piece of our program and the success of our championships, and they should be commended for a fantastic job on the diamonds across the country. Teams and players play their games for a short period of time in all kinds of weather – good and bad, but our umpires are exposed to all of the elements for a much longer period of time, whether it’s rain, or extreme heat, we should never forget that this is not an easy job that they do.
Our National Office Staff (Shelly and Tara) need a shout out – as they have helped get the teams organized ahead of the championships.
Special thanks to our National Media Team – Slammin Media for all of the hard work leading up to, during and after the Championships.
Our event would not be possible without the support of all our sponsors – thank you to Molson Coors Canada, Rawlings Canada, Miken Canada, Worth Sports, Easton Softball Canada, Mizuno Canada, New Era Caps, Game on Mobile and all of the local sponsors that supported the locations across Canada.
We look forward to working with the 2019 Hosting Locations and building on the success and tradition that so many teams and communities across Canada have partipated in. 2019 will mark our 30 year anniversary of this event, and our hosts in Kelowna, Saskatoon, Halifax, Moncton and St John’s are well under way with their plans. We wish all of the teams the best of luck qualifying at their respective provincial championships in the upcoming weeks for next year’s Championships.
