Calling All Ontario Umpires – Provincial Championship Umpire Selection Taking Place Now!

2018 registered umpires are invited to apply to officiate at the upcoming Provincial Championships which will take place in Niagara Falls over 4 consecutive weekends, starting Friday, August 24.

Events Schedule Outline:

Masters & Seniors – Fri, Aug 24 – Sun, Aug 26

Coed (No Fri Games) – Sat, Sept 1 – Mon, Sept 3

Mens A,B,E Womens A,B,C – Fri, Sept 7 – Sun, Sept 9

Mens C,D Womens D,E – Fri, Sept 14 – Sun, Sept 16

All umpires selected will be required to have a full umpire uniform which includes the red and grey golf shirt, grey shorts or pants, black shoes and red umpire hat.

All assignments are a 2 umpire system, which helps reduce the number of controversial rulings and calls and provides umpires with extra support during game situations. Umpires are not required to have 2 umpire experience, new umpires will be matched with a mentoring umpire. A strike mat is utilized for these championships.

All umpires attend a morning meeting each morning and are invited to join in networking/fellowship following the games each evening.

Remuneration for each umpired game will be $27. All games are 1 hour 15 minutes. Umpires are required to organize their own overnight accommodations if needed, and out of town umpires will receive $75 per person towards accommodations for 3 days officiating or $50 per person towards accommodations for 2 days officiating. All umpires are also provided with $25 towards travel expenses.
