Slo-Pitch National Ontario Region Announces Appointment of New Ontario Umpire In Chief

The Ontario Region of Slo-Pitch National would like to welcome Kirk Patterson into the role of the Ontario Umpire In Chief effective October 1, 2018.

Kirk hails from Welland, Ontario and in this new role is looking forward to managing the Ontario network of umpires. Some of Kirk’s key goals will be to establish a new province wide network of Umpire In Chiefs that will be focusing on umpire recruitment, training and retention. Kirk will oversee all major championships in Ontario heading into the 2019 season along with Deputy Umpire In Chief Pam Mogridge.

Kirk brings decades of officiating experience both as an umpire as well as a hockey referee. During the offseason of slo-pitch, he holds the position of Registrar for Welland Minor Hockey. Kirk and his wife live in Welland with their 2 sons. Kirk replaces retiring Umpire In Chief Peter Leavere, who has held the Chief position since 1996.
